Latibule's Sensory Philosophy
Read time: 1 Min | Sensory Focus: Integration | Mood: Introspective
Latibule derives from the Latin for a hiding place; a refuge.
The concept of refuge is often misunderstood as escapism. In our context, we interpret this not as concealment, but as necessary preservation. To retreat is a functional requirement for the restoration of the self.
We propose that this restoration is best achieved through a rigorous engagement with the senses. It is through the light, scent, texture, and sound that we ground ourselves in the immediate present.
Welcome to The Journal.
We established this platform to design objects and dialogue that facilitate this grounding. We explore five distinct sensory pillars:
[01] Olfactory: The chemistry of memory and atmosphere.
[02] Tactile: The reassurance of weight, grain, and temperature.
[03] Visual: The discipline of light and negative space.
[04] Auditory: The cadence of silence and sound.
[05] Gustatory: The ritual of consumption and pause.
We do not seek to occupy your time with noise. We intend only to offer a quiet intermission, and invite you to construct your own refuge.
